In CPRT, parents learn specific parenting skills based on the principles and techniques of CCPT to build a secure attachment with their child and understand their child’s underlying needs beyond the behavioral symptoms. Parents implement the skills in weekly play sessions with their child and receive supportive feedback on their skills from a registered play therapist in a group environment.
The expected outcomes of CPRT include gaining better understanding of your child’s emotional and behavioral needs, and effective parenting skills and responses to meet those needs.
This approach can also be modified as needed to work with parents individually or to address specific concerns.
