1. How do I initiate the services?
  • If you are ready to take the next step or you want more information first, feel free to send an email to swptbc@gmail.com or complete the online form to book a free 20-minute virtual or phone consultation with me, and I will get back to you in 1-2 business days.
  • During this consultation, I will answer questions you have about the services and discuss with you to make sure I have the services that are likely to meet your needs.
  • Once you are ready to take the next step, we will schedule an intake session
  • If at any point in the consultation, we realize we are not a good fit, I will make every effort to provide you with an referral to other relevant providers. 
2. What is an intake session?
  • An intake session is the first counselling session where we will meet.
  • During the intake, we will review the paperwork, listen to your specific concerns for yourself or your child, and make a counseling plan for the future sessions.
  • We will also have an opportunity to explore your counselling goals and get to know each other.  
3. How much does the service cost?
  • Payment is due at the end of each session, and can be made using cash, cheque or e-transfer.
  • Individual sessions are $165 (inc. tax)/ 50-minute session.
  • Group sessions are $120 (inc. tax)/ 50-minute session.
  • Sliding scale of $50-$120 available, based upon household income and extended health benefits.
  • All sessions are provided by Registered Play Therapist (RPT-USA).

4. Do you take insurance?
  • Your extended health provider may cover your sessions if your plan covers counseling sessions by RSWs. Please check with them directly to confirm the coverage.
  • Currently, I do not offer direct billing.
  • When you pay at the end of each session by cash, cheque or e-transfer, and a receipt will then be issued and sent by email for you to submit a claim to your extended health provider. 
5. How long are the sessions and how often are they scheduled?
  • Typically, both individual and group sessions are 50 minutes in length.
  • Frequency of sessions depends on your needs and counselling goals.
  • In general, sessions are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly.
6. How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
  • If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please send an email to swptbc@gmail.com at least 48 hours before the scheduled appointment to avoid a charge of the full fee for a missed appointment. 
7. What about transportation and parking?
  • My office is located at 308-4885 Kingsway, Burnaby BC V5H 4T2, (Get Directions) which is about 30-minute drive from North Vancouver, Vancouver, Richmond, Tri-Cities, New Westminster and Surrey City Centre.
  • There are free 2-hour commercial parking on the ground floor of the building’s parkade.
  • Alternatively, if you prefer taking public transit, the nearest SkyTrain station is Metrotown, which is a 5-minute walk away from the office. Many buses also stop at Metrotown station.
